About the project
We live in a city known for its bustle both day and night, in Saigon, Vietnam. One of the factors that makes Saigon so special, with the name “city that never sleeps,s” is the non-stop “xon xao” sound – a sound that is neither too loud nor too quiet, the sound of creativity and movement. With that in mind, Xôn Xao Studio chose this theme to create a showcase event where people can connect, discuss, and enjoy vibrant art after the sweltering 4th wave of covid extended in this city.
“XON XAO” IN SAIGON is a graphic design showcase combining augmented reality technology, with the participation of more than 25 domestic and foreign artists currently working in the creative field. We recreate the image of a dynamic and creative Saigon through visuals, technology, and the connection of the exhibition space. With the multi-dimensional views of the creators, the excitement of Saigon is painted with many colors, an interesting story, and a strange, highly indigenous culture.
The showcase’s identification system stands out with the word “XON XAO” interwoven from rhythmically sound waves. Besides, covering the showcase is the visual of blobs – an image inspired by the movement of dim lights in Saigon at night.
The highlight of the space design in the showcase was inspired by the alleys of Saigon. Characterized by a unique contrast between “direction-disorientation” in space. Each corner of the exhibition creates stimulation and impact on the viewer’s multi-dimensional experience while recalling the stable architectural elements and installations on the streets of Saigon.
“These are positive and negative experiences in a space that is structurally changed from narrow to wide, from low to high, full of unexpected elements that lead viewers to memories of a bustling Saigon. through exploring the works in this exhibition.”
